Well, well. Hello there! My name is Shawna Kitchin, and I am the owner/creator of this store! I'm 24 years old, but sometimes I feel like I'm going on 85. About 5 years ago, I married the love of my life, Craig. You cannot ask for a better human to spend your life with, and I'm not just saying that. He is seriously my foundation, and I would not be where I am without him today. In our marriage, we've had some ups and downs that for sure. My husband is retired Army, so we moved a lot. Right after we got married, we got to spend 3 beautiful years in Anchorage, Alaska. From there we moved to Colorado, and finally back to our home of Indiana.
3 years ago we gave birth to our beautiful son Jaxton Wayne Kitchin. He's the reason behind a lot of the ideas in this store. Because of him, every sale gets 10% donated to help fund and research Congenital Heart Disease. When he was born, he had a severe heart defect, that ended him up on the transplant list for a new heart. We had 3 beautiful months with him, and we couldn't ask for anything more. They were some of the hardest yet rewarding days of our lives. Unfortunately, he was not able to receive a transplant in time, and he passed away in April of 2016. Not a day goes by that we don't miss him terribly.
We recently moved back to Indiana where I started to take this business on more and more. After a miscarriage in late December 2017, I told my husband that I want to make this into something huge, and this is what I want to do with my future. He was on board, and let me take this on full time. I was able to create this website, keep up with orders and just focus on myself, which I hadn't really gotten to do in a while.
I started this business with custom orders. You wanted it? I was your girl to make it. Everything you see in the shop is handmade by me, in my home. As of right now, I don't have any help, but I'm sure that will change one day. When we lived in Alaska, I worked at a boutique and I fell in love with the atmosphere. I was always creative, so I wanted to make a boutique that had clothing, but also items made by me. And enters, Everything But The Kitchin Sink. It's a mouthful, I know. But I thought it was witty, with our last name being Kitchin. It kind of just stuck. The boutique side of this is totally new for me, so that will be a slow start. But I know the direction I want it to go in.
I'm just a girl with a dream, and a dream I want to flourish. And I can't do that without all of your support. So I hope you stay with me, and find something you like. I try to have something for everyone, but of course if I don't, just shoot me a message.
I look forward to this journey, and I love you all.
